The Art of Food

For millenia food in every culture represented fulfillment, perhaps fertility, perhaps gifts for the gods. The cave artists of Lascaux may have painted their animal prey to represent dinner on the hoof.

"The Art of Food" is the inaugural exhibit of K Gallery, the visual arts gallery of Rhythmix Cultural Works in Alameda,California. The exhibit begins June 2nd and includes major Bay Area artists who use food imagery in their work; Guy Diehl converts his meticulous still life paintings into elegant digital prints. Bay area photographers Gail Skoff and Janet Delaney use food forms and food related objects in their evocative photos. Charlie Milgrim sculpts a US map from jello. These and other food themed works will be on exhibit in the K Gallery opening June 2nd though July 29. Gallery hours are 11-5 Tuesday through Saturday.
