CUBA 2001

ISLA DE CUBA -- FOLKLORIC TOUR JUNE 23RD --- JULY 7, 2001

Do not miss this exciting tour! It is going to be one of kind. No other organization is offering such a comprehensive tour of the Island of Cuba for such a great price. The trip will be hosted by RhythMix Cultural Works and the Cultura Comunitaria, the national umbrella organization of all the Casas de Cultura (culture centers) on the island. We will visit a number of major centers of culture from Havana to Baracoa, on the most Eastern tip of the island.

These cities will include: Matanzas and Jovellanos, Santa Clara, Camaguey, Santiago De Cuba, Guantanamo, and Baracoa. Classes in percussion, song and dance will be presented in many of these areas where we will experience first hand the origins of Bembe, Afro-Haitian (in Cuba) and Afro-Cuban folklore. Classes will be geared for the beginning, intermediate and advanced student. We will also take in performances, and guided tours in each city.

The price for the tour is (US) $1900 from Havana. Included in this price is: 14 days in Cuba, double room occupancy in hotels*, breakfast and dinner, all group transportation in Cuba, classes, performances, guided tours, museums, and license from the US treasury to assure legal travel for educational purposes. What is not included in this price: Flights to and from Havana, entry and exit fees from USA and Cuba, student visas for Cuba, lunch, any transportation aside from group activities.

I will be happy to help anyone with information about airline tickets from the US to Havana. At the moment, there are non-stop flights from LA, Miami, and NYC. (The flight from LA is priced at $670 as of Jan. 2001) This is going to be a great trip for anyone who would love to experience what the whole of the beautiful Island of Cuba has to offer.

* For single occupancy in the hotels, please add $150.
