Brief History of RhythMix
Formed in June of 1997, the RhythMix ensemble made its debut performance at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts to Celebrate the 10th anniversary of KQED "Forum".
Inspired by music traditions of Cuba, Japan, Africa and the Middle East, Carolyn Brandy, Janet Koike, Tina Blaine, Naomi True, and Terrie Wright each brought their talents to the stage for a polyrhythmic celebration of sound. Their inventive performances featured Congas, Djembe, Marimba, Taiko and Voice. This globally inspired ensemble was ahead of its time in creating a unique cross-cultural blend of high-energy movement, song and rhythm and laid the groundwork for the launch of RhythMix Community Arts Center in Alameda, CA. Please visit the performer's links above to see what groups they are currently performing with.

School and Outreach programs

The RhythMix Ensemble arose from the group's desire to share music and cultural awareness in schools. RhythMix has successfully reached thousands of children in over 100 schools through the San Francicso Symphony Adventures in Music, Young Audiences and Bread & Roses programs.

Corporate Events

RhythMix also performed at a number of corporate events and customized our client's shows in unusual ways. For example, at a Palm Pilot Conference, RhythMix took part in the conceptual planning for the conference and opened each day's session with 20' images of shadow drummers.
