Two
world class scientists, one inspired Bay Area architect,
a major Japanese American origami artist and educator. All
are superb origami artists, each has perfected an amazing
individual origami style, and all four will be part of K
Gallery’s winter exhibit “Four Masters of Origami.”
Dr. Robert J.
Lang, 46, a physicist and former researcher for NASA’s
Jet Propulsion Laboratory, has published major origami texts,
has created more than 500 intricate origami models, and
was recently profiled by author Susan Orlean in The New
Yorker magazine ( February 19, 2007).
Dr. Bernie Peyton,
a bear biologist, is renown for his research on and conservation
efforts for the Andean Brown Bear. Peyton now devotes himself
almost full time to his nature themed origami.
Linda Mihara
travels widely exhibiting her designs and promoting origami.
The Mihara family opened The
Paper Tree in 1970, the first origami store in San Francisco’s
Japantown.
Berkeley architect
Peter Engel, who designed the installation for this exhibit,
has developed many original origami works.
All four artists
live in the Bay Area and have shown their works across the
country and internationally. For further information contact:
