Woodcut and Linocut Printmaking


Learn to print Black and White and multicolor images from a single piece of artists grade linoleum or laminated wood. Learn the basics of 4 different techniques: Black and white image as made popular by early Renaissance and Eastern printmakers, White line technique as created by USA, Provincetown printmakers, Reduction method as invented by Picasso, and Multi-plate w/ multi color techniques as used by Japanese and Modern printmakers. Student s will learn the mechanics of using a printmaking press and should expect to walk away with one or more completed prints. Join this intensive workshop for Demonstrations on image transfer and planning, registration techniques, editing, and basic color theory. Printouts of instruction will be handed out for 3 ring binders. Students are encouraged to bring magazines, photos, or books for creative inspiration.
