2008 Printmakers in Paradise: Landscapes of the San Francisco Bay Area

Artists’ Opening Reception: Friday May 2nd, 6-8pm

DEADLINE: Monday, April 14th, 2008
ELIGIBILITY: Participation is open to all artists, of any age, from anywhere in the greater Bay Area.
SUBJECT MATTER: Landscapes of the North Bay, South Bay, East Bay and San Francisco Bay Area.
ACCEPTABLE MEDIA: The K Gallery at Rhythmix Cultural Works is focusing on artists working in the printmaking media only. Artwork with a maximum plate size of 36”x36” in any printmaking medium will be accepted for submission. To be considered, submit digital images of artwork in JPEG (.jpg) format (RGB color mode) on a CD-ROM. Images in other formats will not be accepted. Image files should be saved with the artist name, title, medium, year and size of the work. (Example: artist_title_medium_2008_36x36) Up to three (3) artworks may be submitted on one disk. Artists must include an appropriately stamped, self-addressed envelope (SASE) for the return of their materials. Materials submitted without appropriate SASE will not be returned.
TERMS: Entry does not guarantee inclusion in the exhibition. Rhythmix Cultural Works reserves the right to photograph work for publicity, education or archival records. Selected works are insured for the duration of the exhibition. Sales of art work in the exhibition are encouraged. Artists receive 60% of the retail price of any art work sold. Selected works must be framed and properly wired for hanging. No clip frames. Selected works must be hand delivered to the K Gallery on Saturday, April 26, 10am-noon, or Tuesday, April 29, 6-8pm, 2008. At the end of the exhibition, art work must be picked up by the artist on Saturday, May 31, 10am-noon or Tuesday, June 3, 6-8pm 2008. After June 3, 2008, unclaimed artwork will be charged a $10/day storage fee per item. Any artwork remaining after 30 days will become property of Rhythmix Cultural Works.

NOTIFICATION: Selected artists will be notified by email by April 19, 2008 and artists must deliver their work(s) to Rhythmix Cultural Works on Saturday, April 26, 10am-noon, or Tuesday, April 29, 6-8pm, 2008.

Rhythmix Cultural Works is a nonprofit organization that nurtures the diverse cultural communities in the Bay Area by providing a venue for furthering communication in the arts. Rhythmix Cultural Works is a 501(c)3 organization.

Responsibility for Loss or Damage

The K Gallery will be responsible for the safekeeping of all consigned artwork while in the Gallery’s possession. The Gallery shall be strictly liable to the Artist for loss or damage to artwork beyond that expected from multiple handling, except that the Gallery will not be liable for any loss or damage resulting from earthquake or from flaws within the artwork. Any such liability of the Gallery for any piece of artwork will be limited as follows: (1) if the piece is offered for sale during the show, the Gallery’s liability will be limited to 60% of the listed price; (2) if the piece is not for sale during the show, the Gallery’s liability will be limited to the full value of the piece if it were for sale. If the Gallery agrees to reimburse the Artist for loss or damage to the artwork, the artwork shall become the property of the Rhythmix Cultural Works.

Agreement

By submitting artwork, the Artist agrees that images of selected artwork can be used to promote the show, including publicity and site promotions. Copyright credit will be given to the Artist whenever an image is used in any way. Submission of entry constitutes agreement to all conditions in this Call-for-Entries and the attached Entry Form.

Important Legal Information

Representations and Warranties of Artist: Artist hereby represents and warrants to The K Gallery that she or he is the creator of the Artwork; and that she or he is the owner of all rights to the Artwork and their use as granted to The K Gallery in this Agreement; that the Artwork is original; and that she or he has the full power to enter into this agreement and to make the grants herein contained. Artist further warrants that Artwork does not in whole or in part, infringe upon any copyright or violate any right to privacy or other personal or property right whatsoever, and does not contain any matter of libelous or scandalous nature and/or any matter otherwise contrary to law. Artist hereby agrees to indemnify and hold The K Gallery/Rhythmix Cultural Works harmless from any and all claims, including but not limited to, all third party claims, demands, suits, actions, judgments, losses, costs, damages (direct, indirect, or consequential), attorneys fees and expenses The K Gallery and Rhythmix Cultural Works, might sustain or incur as a result of The K Gallery and Rhythmix Cultural Works participation in this agreement.
