Let’s build an altar with music, dance, memories and traditions for our muertitos with Cascada de Flores and… YOU!

You are invited to dance and sing with Cascada de Flores on a musical journey sharing Días de Muertos traditions from Mexico and Central America. Together you will write messages for your muertitos on barriletes (kites), learn about calaveras (sugar skulls), and build an ofrenda (altar) with music, dance and memories for your muertitos.

Una Ofrenda Musical is a newly recorded musical performance with Cascada de Flores exploring Días de Muertos traditions from Mexico and Central America. Perfect for young ones and families!

Video link will be accessible:

About Días de Muertos
Días de Muertos is a special time between October 31st and November 2nd for people to celebrate the members of their family, their community or the world who have passed away. It is a time to celebrate that person’s life. It can also be a time to cry, laugh, share stories, dance, make music and eat delicious food.

In Mexico, and here in the Bay Area, we create altars for our Muertos called Ofrendas, or offerings. Placing ancient and personal items on the altars helps our loved ones on their journey home to visit us. Nourishment, like fruits of the season, pictures and favourite things or tools from loved one’s jobs can also be placed on the altars. In Mexico, Central America, and here in the United States, the celebration is called “Día de Muertos” (Day of the Dead) or is sometimes referred to as “Día de los Muertos” or “los Días de Muertos” since the celebration lasts several days. In Spanish, our loved ones who have died are called “Muertos” or “Muertitos”.
