Foad Satterfield

For 45 years, Foad Satterfield has been a practicing professional artist and a member of the 45th Street Artist Coop in Emeryville, California. Currently Professor Emeritus, he taught studio arts at Dominican University of California for 38 years where he was Curator of the college’s San Marco, Gallery.

Foad’s study of nature and its varied manifestations has provided a vast and multi-layered subject for inquiry that has given him his purpose—to understand more fully the mystery of Life. His work has been a conscientious effort to critically observe and cultivate a visual vocabulary and dialogue that are contextual, stimulating, and transformative.

In 2019 he celebrated a solo exhibition, Things Known, at Saint Mary’s College in Moraga, California. Foad is represented by The Studio Shop Gallery in Burlingame, California and Christina Maybaum Gallery in San Francisco where he has had solo exhibitions. He has collaborated with SLATE Contemporary, and Joyce Gordon Gallery, both in Oakland, California, and is committed to mentoring and supporting young artists in the San Francisco Bay Area.
