Robert Simons

Painter, printmaker and mixed media artist Robert Simons work is influenced by diverse sources among them Asian landscape, Surrealism and Metaphysical School painting, Pop and Mexican popular art.

His undergraduate and graduate training took place at The California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland where he earned an M.F.A. in Printmaking in 1972. He pursued further studies in printmaking at The Croydon College of Art and Technology in London.

After working for a short period as a fine art printer for a San Francisco gallery, he accepted a teaching position at Holy Names University in Oakland where he has been Professor of Art for over forty years, teaching studio art and art history as well as directing the university art gallery.

His work has been widely exhibited throughout his career in both solo and group shows and is included in the permanent collection of The Achenbach Foundation for Graphic Arts of The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco.
