The Beatles: A Hard Day’s Night to Rubber Soul
$ $100 for the 4 week series, $25/drop-in
7:00 pm to 9:00 pm
From Thursday, May 18, 2017 to Thursday, June 8, 2017

This new and exciting class will be a continuation of the previous Beatles I and II, taught by the popular professor of music at Carnegie Mellon University, Stephen Schultz. Schultz will share the secrets of songs not previously discussed in his earlier lectures, from the Beatle’s LPs A Hard day’s Night, Beatles for Sale, Help, and Rubber Soul. A major topic of investigation will be the influence of classical and world music on the unique compositional styles of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and George Harrison. Previous attendance at Beatles I or II is not required — just an interest in learning more about the music of the most influential band in Rock and Roll history.

Week I: A Hard Day’s Night

The Beatles first LP with all original songs and the soundtrack to their first film.

Week II: Beatles for Sale

Touring takes its toll as the Beatles don’t have enough original material for a complete LP. The music becomes moodier and darker.

Week III: Help

The Beatles first color film and an album with instant classics like Yesterday, Ticket to Ride, and You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away.

Week IV: Rubber Soul

The Beatles enter their greatest creative period with this break through LP. New sounds, exotic instruments, songs to listen to, not dance to.

TIX: $100 for the 4 week series, $25/drop-in
